Folios 281-282: Joseph Short, [Regulating Officer], Lynn [Kings Lynn]. Report that the Cockswain [Coxswain] and two men belonging to HMS Ganges was brought here yesterday having been taken from the wreck of a Dutch fishing boat, the Cockswain [Coxswain] says he was put into her to bring her to Yarmouth, that he got into the Humber, when having taking a little water in he made for Yarmouth but that the vessel sprung a leak and filled but dis not sink and that he and the other men was taken from her yesterday morning by the other vessel that brought them to this place. Requests to know if he should send them to Yarmouth by land with one of his Midshipmen or to wait until the Tender sails and send them in her. He is also informed that Charles Smith the Man he impressed & was arrested and taken from the Rendezvous the same day (6 February 1798) is going master of a small vessel from Wisbech. He request directions whether he is authorised to take him from the vessel as a man belonging to the Navy.
