Folios 219-220: George James Shirley, Beaufort Building. Reply to letter dated 24 August 1798 requesting to know how far it became necessary to throw the Beds and Blankets, made use of for the wounded on board HMS Mars then under his Command. In reply the order for them to be destroyed was in consequence of the Surgeon having written that in case they were held that contagion might arise, the weather being very hot.
