Folios 345-346: Thomas Surridge, HMS Iris, off Gravesend. On the orders of the Admiralty he reports on the state of the ship with particular reference to the recent mutiny. He supplies the names of the delegates and the members of the committee. He says they worked with their Officers and were prepared to sail from the Nore, but were prevented by HMS Montague, Inflexible and Trisphone. He says that when recently Richard Parker came onboard he was treated with contempt by the whole crew and that John Alcock, Marine, had to be prevented from shooting him. On the previous Monday when it appeared possible the crew asked the Officers to resume command and moved the ship into the mouth of the River Thames. They then cut the bower cable and brought the ship to Gravesend. The crew have asked Thomas Surridge to intercede with the Admiralty and to ask for a pardon and he has delivered this request to Admiral Buckner. He recommends the crew for clemency and commends the conduct of Lieutenants Mansel and Fellows and the subordinate Officers who all remained aboard the ship during the mutiny.

Delegates: George Bainsby, 2nd Master's Mate, John Reed, Able Seaman. Committee men: John Coil, John Tedd, John Scott, John Brown, William Cunningham, Zachariah Stephens, John Graham.
Folio 348: enclosed with folios 345-346. Letter dated 13 June 1797 by Charles Buckner, Admiral, Sheerness. He writes to Thomas Surridge expressing his pleasure in receiving from Lieutenant Mansel the letter from the crew of HMS Iris. he says having heard of their exemplary behaviour during the mutiny he will be recommending to the Admiralty that they receive the Royal pardon.
Folio 349: enclosed with folios 345-346. Thomas Surridge, HMS Iris. He supplies a list of the 19 men who have deserved the praise of their Officers. The list includes John May, Carpenter's crew, who was aboard HMS Leopard when the Officers regained control of the ship and was wounded in giving them his assistance.
Folio 350: enclosed with folios 345-346. George Brainsby, HMS Iris. Copy of the letter to Thomas Surridge from the crew dated 13 June 1797. The crew have given command of the ship to the Officers and ask Thomas Surridge to ask that they receive a pardon.
