Folios 276-277: Joseph Short, Lynn. Refers to the enclosure and reports that he has examined the American prisoners who say that they had documents to prove their nationality but were forced to leave them in France. One man, Abner Blackmer, entered on board La Montaigne and was taken in her by HMS Terpsichor. Captain David Woodruff also believes that they are American.
Folio 278: enclosure with folios 276-277. Dated 27 August 1797, Joseph Short signed a list of Americans at Norman Cross prison. Details of where born, ships taken from, by what ships and more are provided for Thomas Hubert, John Sadler, James Sweet and Abner Blackmer.
