Folios 188-189: Richard John Strachan, HMS Melampus, off Cape L'Hogue [La Hague]. HMS Grand Faukner [Grand Falconer] and HMS Magnanime have joined him bringing dispatches. Accordingly he has directed Captain Peyton who is guarding the Marcon islands with his ship to order HMS Aimwell gun vessel to Portsmouth. He has directed Captain de Courcy to proceed to Cork but to supply HMS Syren if he meets her near Guernsey with as many provisions as HMS Magnanime can spare.
