Folios 186-187: Richard John Strachan, HMS Melampus, St Marcon. The wind has obliged him to anchor there. The Captain of HMS Camilla says he is short of medicines and has no surgical instruments as she left Plymouth in haste. He has directed Captain Dacres to supply HMS Childers and the gun vessels, then to go to Plymouth for surgeon's stores and complete HMS Camilla to 4 months provisions and to return protect Marcon island stopping off Guernsey for orders. He is sending this dispatch on board HMS Syren as she is lying near HMS Melampus. She has directions to land it at Weymouth with 2 packets for Earl Spencer and then to proceed to join him at Guernsey. He will sail as soon as they can make their way westwards.
