Folios 198-199: William Smith, HMS Bewick, 10, New Street, Cavendish Square. Is sending a memorial.
Folios 200-201: enclosure with folios 198-199. Memorial from William Smith late Captain of HMS Bewick. He was put on HMS Berwick when there was an unprecedented want of discipline that no officer could command. Two sets of masts had rolled away. He trusts his conduct at the siege of Gibraltar as well as 22 years service will enable him to have a command otherwise he feels as though he is dismissed from the Navy which he is sure was not the punishment that the Courts Martial intended.
