Folios 186-187: William Sydney Smith, Regulating Officer, HMS Diamond, St Helens. He waited for ships leaving Portsmouth and saw many ships leaving. He fell in with HMS Niger, Melampus and Hebe and bore down to get orders from Sir Richard Strachan. He also chased the Fosse d'Ormonville.
