Folios 186-187: William Sydney Smith, Regulating Officer, HMS Diamond, St Helens. He waited for ships leaving Portsmouth and saw many ships leaving. He fell in with HMS Niger, Melampus and Hebe and bore down to get orders from Sir Richard Strachan. He also chased the Fosse d'Ormonville.
Folio 188: enclosure with folios 186-187. Extract of log HMS Diamond for 24 April 1795. Mentions Sir Richard Strachan and the Fosse d'Ormonville.
