Folios 172-173: John Samuel Smith, Regulating Officer, Gosport. He has been asked to say what men and facilities he needs because of the recent acts of Parliament to raise large numbers of men for the Navy. He will need a larger cutter and a Petty Officer and two men for Gosport but as Fareham gets men from the country they will not need anything apart from a gang. An Officer and gang would be good at both Wickham and Titchfield. The Gosport regulating Offcer has not worked in Portsmouth so an Officer and party of men would be needed there. Hamble Ferry does not lie within his area. An Officer stationed at Abresford, Bishops Waltham, Droxford and Hambleton may be needed.
