Folios 160-161: Wilson Rathborne, North Shields. Acknowledging receipt of Mr Barrow's letter of 3 February, directing him to send James Thompson, a Greenlandman impressed here, to the Nore, but advising that he has seen an affidavit swearing that the man now on board the tender Eliza is not the James Thompson who had run and forfeited his protection from the Lady Jane. Also there is an allotment ticket from a James Thompson aboard HMS Nightingale, who is said to be the man in question. Suggests that if the description of the man on the Nightingale exactly matches the one aboard the tender, it can be seen that no fraud has occurred with the application for discharge.
