Folios 140-141: Wilson Rathborne, North Shields. Sending details of his apprehension of a deserter, Thomas Allison, and asking if their Lordships will make a civil prosecution of the man to set an example. Allison had been impressed at Sunderland on 8 August 1811, but escaped while being transported to the tender. On 3 February this year, Lieutenant Liddle took half his gang to search for a deserter from the gun brig, Censor, and the other half went in search of Allison at his home. When they opened the door Allison fired on them, without even asking who they were, and severely wounded Midshipman Robert Ainsley, and one of the men, John Evrington. He was detained and put aboard the Eliza tender.
Folio 142: enclosure with folios 140-141. Admiralty form, dated 4 February 1812, naming Captain Rathborne and noting that the incident of Allison firing upon the gang and wounding two of them, is to be referred to the solicitor.
