Folios 248-249: Wilson Rathborne, Regulating Officer, North Shields. Reports that two of the French prisoners, Jean Smith and Nicolas Kambran, have escaped frm the House of Correction where they had been lodged for better security until they could be sent to Chatham by tender. The other two were sent to the Lyra tender on 16 October.
