Folios 330-331: Alexander Renny, HMS Alert, Downes. John Roberts Boatswain left his duty on 17 August 1810. While waiting for the convoy at Torbay he appointed his Coxswain John Williams to act as Boatswain after he was surveyed by Lieutenant Masters. Roberts died at St Johns.
