Folios 186-187: John Shortland, Regulating Captain, Whitby. Reports that on his return from Scarborough, Lieutenant John Okes explained why he had impressed John Eltringham [?] , who used to be a member of the press gang, from a Custom House boat, Encloses [not present] the Lieutenant's reasons for acting as he did, and the Admiralty should be able to see why it is important that Holly and his people are not able to repeat their behaviour. He then offered to discharge Eltringham if he would promise not to do the same thing again, but this he rejected.
