Folios 174-175: Michael Seymour, HMS Spitfire, the Hamoaze. Acknowledges the letter enclosing a report from the Ordnance officers of the armament of his ship and reports that she presently has eight 12-pounder Carronades of the old pattern and eight long 4-pounders. Asks instead if he can be supplied with the proper armament for a sloop of her class, that is fourteen 18-pounder Carronades and two long 6-pounder Cannon as chase guns.
Folios 176-177: enclosed with folios 174-175. Reports signed by Alexander Schaw, Robert Atkinson and Andrew Long, the Office of Ordnance, Plymouth Dock, to the Board of Ordnance, 29 November 1796. Report they have surveyed the guns aboard HMS Spitfire, 12-pounder Carronades and Cannon, and find them perfectly serviceable.
