Folios 149-150: Stephen Seymour, HMS Arab, off Angra, Island of Tercera [Terceira]. Reports his arrival three days earlier. Following his last letter on 1 January he sailed seven days later and briefly made good progress, before being held back by contrary winds for more than a month. In a gale he lost his Foremast and Main Topmast, but by 23 February had been able to erect a jury rig and decided to touch at the Western Isles to get supplies. Encloses [not present] the state and condition of his ship. The British Consul promises to forward his letter, will sail now again in execution of his orders.
