Folios 99-100: John Scoffin, HMS Viper, Torbay. Reports he sailed from Cork on 20 December 1796 under orders from Vice Admiral Robert Brice Kingsmill to refit at Plymouth, but was blown past it in a gale and took shelter in Torbay. Captain John Osborn of HMS Trusty has now ordered him to take the transport Unity under convoy to Plymouth.
