Folios 281-282: [Matthew] Squire, HMS Magnificent, Blackstakes. Acknowledges receipt of the letter of 27 August and will waste no time in getting the ship ready for sea. Since he has been with the ship at Blackstakes, there have been 22 Carpenters from Chatham Yard on board finishing the repairs. He understands that they will not be finished for several days. There are only 6 Seamen on board. If more are ordered, he will be able to carry out his orders. He has asked for the guns to be sent from Woolwich, but finds they are at Portsmouth, expected to arrive any day.
