Folios 277-278: [Matthew] Squire, HMS Magnificent, Blackstakes. Acknowledges the letter of 8 August informing him of the appointment of William Norrie, currently Gunner of HMS Quebec, to HMS Magnificent. Samuel Thompson, the late Gunner, has shown Captain Squire a letter ordering him to report immediately for his new appointment. Captain Squire requests that he stays on board until replaced by William Norrie, as it may be necessary to have an inspection of his stores.
