Folios 269-270: [Matthew] Squire, [Regulating Officer], 19 New Street, Knightsbridge. Reports there will be difficulties in getting the men to Tower Hill from either of the Rendezvous. They are generally half drunk. The men refuse to be regulated unless they are allowed time to spend the one third of their bounty paid to them by the Parish Officers. As there is only one Lieutenant at each Rendezvous, it is impossible to ensure the men get there voluntarily. He proposes to billet them as soon as they are regulated, if the Justices would order the Bounty not be paid until they reach Tower Hill. This would ensure far fewer run away. Asks whether he should remain at one Rendezvous, or attend each to regulate the men. If the Lieutenants are not allowed to regulate them in his absence, there will be complaints from the Parish Officers. His directions state that the men are to be collected, and he must regulate them.
