Folios 195-196: Alex Scott, [Regulating Officer?], Wick. Has just received the letter of 14 May, informing him that it may be some time before the Lieutenants join him. He will do his best to promote the service. Lieutenant David Burn is employed on the spot. Captain Scott could employ him until he receives further instructions, but he fears that prospects are not good, as reflected in his weekly account. Furthermore, the gentlemen of the Counties have no hopes of procuring their quotas of men for some time to come. He has also received the letter of 1 June, with the enclosed Act of Parliament for taking into the Service Able Bodied and Idle Persons, but there is currently only one such person in Caithness whose fate has not yet been determined by the Justices.
