Description

Folios 496-497: Charles Rowley, HMS Eagle, Spithead. Encloses descriptions of 6 seamen who have deserted. Daniel Gould, Sailmaker, is of respectable parents at Beccles in Suffolk, George Cuthbert's brother keeps a pastry cook shop in Fleet Street. He believes both of them may be recovered for the service by searching their relations' houses.

Folio 498: enclosure with folios 496-497. List dated 28 April 1809 from Charles Rowley, HMS Eagle, Spithead, of 6 deserters. Daniel Gould, 30, Sailmaker, born at Beccles, Suffolk, John Smith (2nd), 27, born at Lisbon, George Cuthbert, 42, Captain's Cook, born in London, John Reynolds, 31, Gunner's Taylor, born at Shrewsbury, Shropshire, Robert Baxter Atkinson, 24, Born at Scarborough, Yorkshire and Jacob Melsom, 33, Groom, born in London. Physical description of each man given.
