Folios 467-468: Charles Rowley, 34 Wimpole Street, [London]. Encloses a letter from Lieutenant Colman of HMS Eagle with the Surgeon's certificate requesting to be superceded . He fears he has no chance of being cured of his rupture.
Folios 469-470: enclosure with folios 467-468. Letter dated 29 January 1809 from J R Colman, HMS Eagle, Portsmouth to Wellesly Pole, Admiralty, London. he is advised by the Surgeon to apply to be superceded from HMS Eagle for a few months as recommended for his recovery.
Folio 471: enclosure with folios 469-470. Certificate dated 23 January 1809 from William Porter, MD, Surgeon, HMS Eagle. Lieutenant John Robert Colman of HMS Eagle is suffering from a scrotal hernia. Recommends a cure which is incompatible with active service.
