Description

Folios 457-458: Charles Rowley, HMS Eagle, Spithead. He is satisfied that the letter of complaint written in the name of the ship's company was made up by one or two blackguards without the knowledge of the crew. Expresses his satisfaction with the general good conduct of the crew and requests that a certain number at a time be allowed leave of absence to see their friends and to have a proportion of their wages. Many of the men have been 14 and 16 years without being on shore.
