Folios 427-428: William Rogers, HMS Thisbe, Greenwich. Replies to their letter of 31 [July 1809]. On 3 July [1809] Mr Green had his permission tp be absent for the day but did not return by the time he had to return the Supernumeraries to Vice Admiral Sir Henry Edwyn Stanhope and so had to report him absent without leave. The Vice Admiral sent a Lieutenant to London to bring him bak. When he returned on board Mr Green said he had an accident on the way to Town which confined him ti the passing day and he could provide evidence. From his looks and good character he believed him and accepted his reasons for being absent.
Folio 429: enclosure with folios 427-428. Undated note from J W Morton. The objection to the examination of Mr Green is that he absented himself twice from HMS Thisbe without leave and Admiral Stanhope was in consequence informed that Mr Green could not be examined without a special order from the Admiralty.
