Folios 98-99: Charles Ryder, Regulating Officer, Falmouth. responds to letter of 10 [October 1809] concerning William Murray. He was impressed at Helford on 13 June 1806 by Lieutenant Menzies and McMahon being an Able Seaman aged 32, and entered for HMS Experiment to which he was sent.
Folios 100-101: enclosure with folios 98-99. Letter dated 4 October 1809 from Catherine Murray, Falmouth, to the Admiralty. She is the wife of William Murray who was impressed 3 years ago and is now serving on board HMS Experiment store ship in Falmouth. His pay is insufficient to support his family of 5 children. Some friends have offered to raise a contribution to get 2 landsmen as substitutes. Asks for his discharge if this can be done. Endorsed by towns men of Falmouth, Joseph Banfield, Alderman and Merchant, J W Tippet, Town Clerk, Thomas Fox, merchant, Andrer Young, Attorney at Law, John Carne, Merchant, Edward Angove, Mayor and Henry Williams, Justice.
