Folios 95-96: Charles Ryder, Regulating Officer, Falmouth. Responds to letter of 9 [October 1809] concerning John Benny [Benney], an apprentice. He entered there on 22 September [1809] stating that he was not an apprentice, but he has no reason to question the enclosed indenture [not present].
Folio 97: enclosure with folios 95-96. Letter dated 4 October 1809 from Michel Benney, Helston, Cornwall, to the Admiralty. Encloses and indenture of apprenticeship [not present] showing that his son John Benney is apprenticed to him. He has heard that he is on board HMS Tromp in Falmouth harbour. He understands he cannot be discharged without an Admiralty order, which he requests.
