Folios 281-282: Thomas Roberts, HMS Serpent at Spithead. Reporting that William Stewart is acting master. The previous one who had deserted and classed 'R' has now returned to the Serpent, after being made a prisoner in France when on passage from Plymouth to Cork. He requests that the 'R' be taken from his name and reinstated as master again.
