Folios 225-226: William Rickett, HMS El Corso, Triest. Enclosing duplicate letters of the affair of Zante and the letters of Lord Elgin and the President of the Republic of the seven united islands.
Folios 227-228: enclosure with folios 225-226. Letter dated 19 October 1801 from Lord Elgin, Constantinople, to William Rickett, HMS El Corso. Congratulating William Rickett on his decisive action in Zante and his confining his actions to the removal of the British flag only and not interfering in the internal politics of the island. He deeply laments the nature of Mr Smith's interference and his attempts to thwart Rickett's action.
Folios 229-230: enclosure with folios 225-226. Translation of a Letter dated 21 October 1801 from Spiridion Giorgis Foresti, President and Senate of Corfu to William Rickett. The senate thanks him for wiping away the insult offered to the British flag by a rebellious faction at Zante and the hoisting of the colours of the Republic instead. Consul Foresti was thanked as well for all his help.
