Folios 162-163: William Richardson, HMS Autumn, Leigh Roads. He has received an order from VA Graeme to sail to the mouth of the Thames to look out for the American ship Washington from Nanty bound to London with 2 deserters belonging to HMS Weazle. As Lieutenant John Jeans is not well, this duty falls heavily on the other officers. He requests that Jeans is superceded and he gets an active officer in his room.
Folios 164-165: enclosure with folios 162-163. Letter dated 23 December 1801 from John Jeans, HMS Autumn, Leigh Roads. He requests leave of absence or being superceded because of his severe asthma.
