Folios 97-98: Charles Ranelagh, HMS Doris, Hamoaze. Is sending a letter on the contributions from the Gun Officers and his reply.
Folios 99: enclosure with folios 97-98. Letter dated 20 March 1799 by Charles Ranelagh, HMS Doris, to the Commissioners of the Navy. The contribution from the Gunroom was remitted from Messers Nelson and Co at Plymouth on 10 March 1798 so that their pay would not be interrupted.
Folio 100: enclosure with folios 97-98: Letter dated 21 January 1799 by C. Hope, J. Henslow and George Marsh, Navy Office to Lord Ranelagh, HMS Doris. They refer to the letter of 16 February 1798 in which the Gunroom said they would give £50 towards the defences of Britain. The money has not yet been received and no deduction has been made from their pay.
