Description

Folios 74-75: David Ramsay, Regulating Officer, Greenock. Is sending a copy of a letter from Lord Cavan from Belfast to all the ships of war. He has told the Master of the Revenue cutter to deliver it to any ships he may meet.

Copy of letter from Major General Cavan, [Bunimer]. June 21 1799. HMS Hurler cutter, under Lieutenant Norway was chased by a large yellow French ship which fired on her but she escaped as HMS Hawk cutter and the Sandwich lugger came out of Loch Swilly. They all chased the privateer west of Tory.
