Folios 62-63: David Ramsay, Regulating Officer, Greenock. The Polly tender is to be kept here as a stationary ship. Peter Smith, Glasgow is a very worthy Officer to take charge. He is sending a letter from the crew of the Polly about their wish to stay in Greenock, as they have now been put aboard HMS Acteon and being sent to the fleet would discourage other men from joining the press.
Folios 64-65: enclosure with folios 62-63. Letter dated 7 May 1799 by Archibald McCallan, Kenny Mann, John Jamison, Walter Hinds, Donald Haman and Richard Henly, HMS Acteon, Liverpool, to Ramsay. When the Polly tender was found unfit for service, they were put aboard HMS Acteon. They ask to be sent back to Greenock as all their families are there.
