Tower of London: General. Two plans. (1) 'A Plan of the first Story of the Jewell house in the Tower of London, taken August 15th 1702'. Shows dining room, parlour, kitchen, staircases, parapet and outbuildings. Some parts in draft or unfinished. Scale: 1 inch to 5.25 feet. Initialled 'T.E.'. (2) Block plan of Tower of London, dated 1668. Also shows surrounding area, and the River Thames, with drawings of ships. Some areas outlined in black ink lined with yellow ink. Bears no title or legends.Scale: 1 inch to 100 feet. Dimensions: (1) 37 cm x 35 cm; (2) 35.5 cm x 48.5 cm.
Both plans bear the stamp 'I.G.F.' [Inspector General of Fortifications] and broad arrow. Both are annotated to the effect that they were handed to Lieutenant Monier Skinner, Royal Engineers, by his father in 1872. A Ministry of Works index card notes the presence of a 'manuscript account of Colonel Blood's attempted seizure of the Crown Jewels' [from the Tower of London in 1671], but there is no account now with these plans.
