Folios 410-411: Alexander Milner, HMS Devastation, the Downs. Received letter of 24 April enclosing application and affidavit of George Cox requesting his discharge. Says to refer to his letter 12 May.
Folio 412: enclosed in folios 410-411. Affidavit sworn, [Sir John] Perring, Mayor, Mansion House, 21 April 1804. George Cox, Webb Buildings, Hare Street, Bethnal Green, weaver, says his son George Cox absconded without consent, entered Marine Society, Bishopsgate Street and sent onboard HMS Devastation; witnessed by the Parish Clerk. Requests his return.
Folios 413-414: enclosed in folios 410-411. George Cox, Webb Buildings, Bethnal Green. Petitions their son age 12 left home three days ago, went to the Marine Society and thence to HMS Devastation. Says he has never been at sea or received Bounty. Requesting their son is discharged.
