Folios 236-237: Keith Maxwell, HMS Arabe, Downs. Reply to Rear Admiral Rowley's letter 22 November to Lord [Captain Thomas] Cochrane, formerly of HMS Arabe about John Neddie impressed 20 March 1804. Says his name was added to the vessel’s protection. Neddie’s been on board nine months and is one of the best seamen onboard.
Folios 238-239: enclosed in folios 236-237. James Maclaren, Agent, Carron Company, 20 November 1804. Returns letter 27 October refusing to discharge Neddie, enclosed the protection that was onboard.
Folios 240-241: enclosed in folios 238-239. Printed Protection certificate. Twelve men and boys, the Pallas, John Archibald, Master carrying ordinance stores, 2 March 1804.
Folio 242: enclosed in folios 236-237. John Barrow, Admiralty to Mr McLaren, Secretary, Carron Company, Thames Street, 27 October 1804. Cannot discharge John Neddie impressed onboard HMS Arabe as Rear Admiral Rowley, Sheerness says the vessel he was on didn’t have a protection.
