Administrative / biographical background

The Admiralty Gunnery Establishment was initially the fire control group of the Admiralty Research Laboratory at Teddington. It was formally established as an Establishment in 1943, responsible for naval and army fire control. In 1959 it was abolished and its functions dispersed to the Admiralty Surface Weapons Establishment and the Armament Research and Development Establishment.
