Folios 241-242: Keith Maxwell, 33 Charing Cross. He writes a detailed account of the action he led in the cutting out of the French corvette, Le Chevrette at Cameret Bay. He says that his letter to the Gazette was suppressed and the credit for the operation has been wrongly given to the boats of HMS Doris, Captain Brisbane. He says that the boats of HMS Doris only relieved his men when Le Chevette had been captured and way several miles out of the Bay. He commends the bravery of Lieutenant Neville who boarded on the port side of the ship. Following the court of inquiry Keith Maxwell was promoted. He encloses a copy of the report he sent to Admiral Cornwallis immediately after the action.
