Description

Folios 100-113: Correspondence regarding the proposed extension of quays in front of the Naval Yard.

Encloses letter (folios 100-108): G Bowen, Government House, Hong Kong dated 25 June 1883 to Commodore Cuming RN, regarding the proposed building of an embankment.

Encloses letter (folios 109-111): W H Cuming, Commodore-in-Charge of Naval Establishments at Hong Kong, HMS Victor Emanuel at Hong Kong dated 3 July 1883 to His Excellency, Sir George F Bowen GCMG, Governor and Commander in Chief, informing of some objections regarding the proposed building of the embankment.

Encloses letter (folio 112): George O Willes, Vice Admiral, Commander-in-Chief, HMS Audacious off Port Arthur dated 18 July 1883 to His Excellency, Sir George F Bowen GCMG, Governor, Hong Kong, responding to the proposal and largely concurring with the Commodores observations and objections.

Encloses letter (folio 113): George O Willes, Vice Admiral, Commander-in-Chief, HMS Audacious off Port Arthur dated 18 July 1883 to the Secretary of the Admiralty, submits the proposal and opinions for consideration. Includes alternative proposals which could be pursued.
