Description

Folios 66-76: Correspondence regarding the naval water supply at Hong Kong.

Encloses letter (folio 78): W Marsh, Administering the Government, Government House, Hong Kong dated 13 January 1883 to His Excellency, Vice Admiral G O Willes CB, information that instructions have been given to take greater care that no cultivation is carried out on the draining area of the naval water supply.

Encloses letter (folio 79): George O Willes, Vice Admiral, Commander-in-Chief, HMS Iron Duke at Hong Kong dated 20 March 1882 to His Excellency, The Officer Administrating the Government, Hong Kong, regarding agricultural cultivation near the naval water supply.

Encloses letter (folio 80): George O Willes, Vice Admiral, Commander-in-Chief, HMS Encounter at Hong Kong dated 1 January 1883 to His Excellency, The Officer Administrating the Government, Hong Kong, requesting further clarification regarding the cultivation near the naval water supply as no response was received on earlier communication.

Encloses letter (folio 81): G F Bowen, Governor, Government House, Hong Kong dated 8 January 1883 to His Excellency, Vice Admiral Willes CB, informing that the spots has been places under closer surveillance.
