Description

Folios 527-528: Depositions of several men taken in August 1798 by Lieutenant French in the presence of Bartholomew Samuel Rowley of HMS Ramillies, Rev, Corsells and Colonel Dyer of the Marines.

Folios 529-530: enclosure with folios 527-528. Deposition dated 3rd August 1798 by Mark Tracey. It was suggested that the ship's company should join to get better usage, turn Captain Rowley and Lieutenant French out of the ship and give command to Lieutenant Troth.

Folios 530-531: enclosure with folios 527-528. Deposition dated 3rd August 1798 by William Osler. Gear and Layton came to his birth [berth?] and Layton gave him a paper saying read this to your shipmates, it was poorly written so Gear read it out and it said that the ship's company should join to get better usage, turn Captain Rowley and Lieutenant French out of the ship and give command to Lieutenant Troth.
