Description

Folios 515-516: Bartholomew Samuel Rowley, HMS Ramillies, at sea off Ushant. Encloses the reports of Captain Sir Charles Hamilton, HMS Melpomene, and Captain John Gore, HMS Triton who were sent to reconnoitre the enemy's force in Brest.

Folios 517: enclosure with folios 515-516. Report dated 29th March 1798 from Captain Sir Charles Hamilton, HMS Melpomene addressed to Captain Bartholomew Samuel Rowley, HMS Ramillies off Ushant showing observations of 2 three-decked ships, 9 two-decked ships, 9 frigates and 5 brigs
