Description

Folios 475-476: Peter Rothe, Regulating Captain, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Has recieved the enclosed letter and Certificates from Rowland Burdon, MP for County Durham, requesting the discharge of Henry Wagget, lately impressed by Lieutenant William Abbs, Regulating Officer for Sunderland, and sent on board the Mary tender.

Folios 477-478: enclosure with folios 475-476. Letter dated 30 December 1797 from Rowland Burdon, MP for County Durham concerning Henry Wagget, pressed at Sunderland and sent on to the Tender at Shields.

Folios 479-480: enclosure with folios 475-476. Letter dated 14th November 1797 from Lieutenant William Abbs to Peter Rothe, Regulating Captain, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Concerning the case of Henry Wagget, Carpenter who protested the non-payment of his wages, and who is also known as a Deserter fro HMS Brilliant.

Folios 481-482: enclosure with folios 475-476. Letter dated 22nd December 1797 from John Metcalf, Stockton to Mr Scarth, Castle Eden. Pleads the case of Elizabeth Atkinson, his near relation, for the release of her husband Henry Wagget, a Ship's Carpenter.

Folio 483: enclosure with folios 475-476. Attachment dated 23rd December 1797 certifying that Henry Wagget had obtained Thomas Ravensoule of Sunderland to serve as his substitute on 11th March 1797.
