Folios 222-223: Thomas Rawe, HMS Royal Oak, Portsmouth. Encloses a petition from French prisoners who landed in Wales. Explains that 4 months ago some of the had given their names to Mon D'etteile, Emigrant Recruiting Officer, to enter into different regiments of Emigrants now in British Service. Reports that due to the constant quarrels between the prisoners and other parts of the Legion they belonged to, it was necessary to separate them and confine them to different prison ships.
Folio 224: enclosure with folios 222-223. Remarks by the Admiralty on the contents of covering letter and what has been done about it.
Folios 225-226: enclosure with folios 222-223. Petition in French, dated 4 October 1797, of French Prisoners, onboard HMS Vigilant to the Admiralty, signed by Darnay on behalf of the other 100 prisoners who have enrolled in Emigrant regiments.
