Folios 219-220: Pulteney Malcolm, HMS Donegal, Portsmouth Harbour. Encloses a letter from Lieutenant David Shine, who is in ill health. If he is to be superceded, recommends Richard Moirman [?] for the post. Reminds the Admiralty that he wished to nominate Mr Moirman when the Admiralty offered him promotion for one of his officers after the battle in February. In that case, the blank commission was sent to Admiral Lord Collingwood, who instead nominated John Taylor for his services on the Donegal at Trafalgar.
Folios 221-222: enclosed with folios 219-220. Letter dated 8 June 1806 from Lieutenant David Shine, Ballymacruse near Limerick, to Captain Pulteney Malcolm, HMS Donegal, Portsmouth Harbour. Encloses a certificate from his doctor of his continuing poor health, intends to ask the Admiralty to extend his leave.
Folio 223: enclosed with folios 221-222. Certificate dated 6 June 1806 and signed by Simon Reardon MD that Lieutenant David Shine has been confined to bed with a violent fever and is only slowly recovering.
