Folios 93-94: John McKerlie, Garliestoun, Galloway. Acknowledges the letter of 10 March but explains that the purpose of that letter was not principally to seek employment, but instead to ask for compensation for the loss of the pension which he was awarded for the loss of his right arm while serving as a Midshipman under Captain Sir Edward Pellew in an action with the Droits de l'Homme. When he was promoted to Lieutenant he lost this pension. Postscript. Notes that the Admiralty's letter mistakenly addressed him as a Lieutenant.
