Folios 84-85: Alexander Richard Mackenzie, HMS Combatant, the Downs. Reports that Sub Lieutenant Fowler Shute has asked to be moved to a gun vessel because he finds that as a Sub Lieutenant, his pay is not sufficient to maintain his position in the Gun Room. Asks that a full Lieutenant be appointed in his place.
