Folios 259-260: [David] Ramsay, Leith Rendezvous. Giving information about John Anderson who was impressed by Lieutenant Fellows and has been Master of a sloop for five years, but not commanded a vessel for six months. He has been eight years at sea. He came to his port to find a merchant ship but had no papers to avoid impressment. He has recently been on board HMS Admamant and then sent to the Nore in HMS Snake.
Folios 261-263: enclosure with folios 259-260. Petition with covering note dated 1 July 1813, from Peter Campbell, on behalf of John Anderson, the previous commander of the ship Nicholas based in Kirkcudbright in Scotland. The vessel had been disposed of and the petitioner was to take charge of another in Berwick. He had come to Leith to get a passage on a trading smack, but being found without a vessel he was impressed and sent on board HMS Adamant. He has been transferred to the sloop Snake. The petitioner presumes that it is not the policy of the Admiralty to impress commanders of ships.
