Description

Folios 229-230: Wilson Rathborne, North Shields. Enclosing information about the case of William Whiting, on board the Quebec or Namur. He was impressed by Lieutenant Riddle, Sunderland and detained as he appeared not to be bona fide Mate of the Ruswarp.

Folios 231-235: enclosure with folios 229-230. Letter dated 23 June 1813 by John Norman of Water Lane, Tower Street, enclosing a certificate to prove the expiration of William Whiting's apprenticeship and a birth certificate to prove him to be of age.

Folio 232: enclosure with folios (231-235) 229-230. Certificate signed by James Dyer, Master of the Ruswarp, confirming that William Whiting is Chief Mate, and has charge of the goods or merchandise received on board the vessel.

Folio 233: enclosure with folios (231-235) 229-230: Certificate of Baptism of William Whiting, signed by James Brook, vicar of Elmstead Parish Church.

Folio 234: enclosure with folios (231-235) 229-230: Certificate dated 31 May 1813 signed by Charles Heath, confirming that William Whiting has been released from his apprenticeship in Colchester for two months.
