Folios 432-433: Zachary Mudge, HMS Fly, off Cherbourg. Encloses a letter from Lieutenant John Lackey of the hired cutter Earl St Vincent and a survey on her mast, which the Carpenter reports she is in danger of losing. He has ordered her to Spithead.
Folios 434-435: enclosed with folios 432-433. Copy of a letter dated Aug 17 1800 from Lieutenant John Lackey, HM Hired Cutter St Vincent, off Cherbourg, to Commander Zachary Mudge, HMS Fly. Request a survey on his vessel's mast. 17 August 1800. Survey signed by Carpenters Roger Prossiter, HMS Fly, George Pickton, HMS Rambler, and Daniel Hall, HM Cutter Earl St Vincent. At the request of Commander Zachary Mudge they report the cutter's mast is rotten and she is unfit for sea.
